The Best Way To Organize Couple Baby Showers By Virginia Coles
Traditionally, women have only been invited to baby showers but these days fathers are also interested in
joining the celebration.
And who could blame them?
Apart from the ogling over baby bibs and bassinets, baby showers are a fun reason for friends and family to get together.
Couple showers are best organized when you keep the male factor in mind. This means you:
~identify on the shower invitation that it's a couple's shower ~include the father-to-be in the planning decisions ~incorporate games that men will also enjoy ~want favors and game prizes to be gender neutral ~have enough food, so there's plenty for everyone ~invite a few of his friends ~provide a few alcoholic beverages if preferred ~keep the shower to three hours maximum ~organize a gift list for the couple and/or the father/mother-to-be ~have two chairs set up for the couple to open the gifts together ~consider beach, tropical, or color shower themes
Make sure guests know the shower is for the couple and that some of his friends will be attending. Also mention whether or not guests should buy a gift for the father-to-be. It would be a nice gesture for a few guests to buy something strictly for him, especially if others are bringing gifts for the expectant mother as well as the baby.
Speak with the couple when you are making your shower plans.
Is there a theme they both love? Would they prefer to keep the theme neutral? Do they want to have baby shower games? How many friends does he want to invite? Do they want alcoholic beverages?
You will probably have more questions after you meet with them, so keep notes and remember to ask them when you speak with them again.
Baby shower games are an important part of every shower. They give guests the opportunity to mix and mingle, to meet guests they don't know, and to liven up the celebration.
Shower games men might enjoy include:
diaper race game baby pictionary baby word scramble using Dad's initials famous babies gestation guessing game
The prizes for these games as well as the baby shower favors should be something both males and females would enjoy. I doubt many men would like to receive baby shower themed prizes. Maybe some, but not many!
You also have to consider men when organizing your menu. There should be enough food for everyone, but remember you are probably organizing an afternoon luncheon and guests don't expect a full sit down meal.
Depending on the number of male guests, plan on doubling most recipes and including a few substantial dishes like casseroles, salmon or lasagna. It's also important to have a lot of food if you will be serving alcohol.
Remember you're planning a special event for your close friends and they both want to welcome their new child into this world and to be a part of the celebration. ---------------- About the author: Visit 1st Baby Shower.com for help in planning your first baby shower, including FREE clipart, games, planning guide and recipes.
